After a much needed pep talk, I finally decided to head up the coast to try and learn how to surf. Surfing has always been a bucket list item for me. Although I may not have the best balance, I was determined to try it out. After some research, I found that Tofino would ultimately be the most convenient place to start. However, the weather was not cooperating with us. As soon as we arrived, the rain started to fall; and it did not stop.
After some unexpected weather issues, we decided to turn things around. My much anticipated surfing trip had become a hiking and exploring trip once again. This time, we decided to start at a local trail called Tonquin Park. Here is the site for the trail map and distance (Tonquin Beach Hike | Tofino Trails (tofinohiking.com)). This trail was different from others i had taken before. Usually, when I go for a hike it is about getting from point A to point B. This one was different for me. It was about appreciating the view. The trail takes you directly through a local temperate deciduous rainforest and now holds a special place in my heart, as I hope to be able to return soon to see it.
