Although coding is something quite new to me, it is an up and coming skill that i do believe is quite important to introduce to students at the elementary level. In our class, we went over a variety of resources that could be useful when introducing and teaching this topic.
My favorite was CodeBC. Code BC is a site that provides a variety of exercises for all grade levels. It ranges from cross-curricular exercises to more directed ones. An example that stood out to me was under the grade 65 level called “CT Illustrated” (CodeBC – CT Illustrated) This program is formatted in a cartoon like style, that teaches about human behaviour.
