During our class this week, we had Jesse Miller come in to talk to our class. Jesse Miller has been helping others to learn about internet education for 15 years. Some of my major takeaways from Jesse’s presentation, were that we should be teaching resilience and regulations with technology. As educators, I do agree that we need to present ourselves in a credible and professional way when it comes to social media. Personally, I like to keep my work and professional media usage separate, but social media can have some beneficial uses for educators.
Some positive examples of educators using social media for education purposes include sharing lesson plans and activities publicly, while keeping their students and schools identity private. I follow a few teacher accounts on both Instagram and tiktok for inspiration and future activities I hope to be able to use in my own class one day.
