During Covid-19, we transitioned to a fully online model of learning. This experience has come with its fair share of challenges, as well as some challenges. Personally, some pro’s to online learning for me has been being able to have more time to transition, having all notes and resource available online, being able to hand in everything virtually as well as conveniently having everything I may need around me.
However, it has also had its fair share of drawbacks. For example lack of social communication, getting constant migraines from the amount of screen time, needing to learn certain technologies quickly and relying on my internet connection, which is not the most stable in my current location. This video that was shown to us discussed different types of online learning environments. I have found joining communities for hobbies during this time has been extremely beneficial to me. Here is a list of strategies that I have developed to help me to stay on-top of online learning:
- Using a calendar to plan ahead
- Keeping all zoom links and online tools in their own resources folder
- Turning on notifications to important groups (brightspaces, Mattermost)
- connecting with my peers online
